Bahia Beach Plantation

Located in Río Grande, the Bahia Beach Plantation golf course lies approximately 19 miles east of San Juan, and is the nearest course to the metropolitan area that operates an affordable golfing experience for the general public and tourists. Built in 1991, this 18-hole, 72 Par golf course has one of the best layouts on the island. The number of rounds played annually exceeds 42,000.

The Bahia Beach Plantation golf course was constructed on an old, beachfront jungle. Many native trees and vegetation were preserve for the course. Greens and Fairways are covered with Bermuda Grass. The course includes seventy-five acres of freshwater lakes, three beachfront holes, two miles of beach, and dramatic views of neighboring El Yunque Mountain Rain Forest. The view is so amazing, that you may want to bring your camera along, as well as your clubs. The course has water hazards in play on 13 holes. You'll also find a good share of wild life against this natural setting, including iguanas, hawks, and fish in the translucent lakes. The last three holes run along some spectacular beaches. Every hole of the course is unique and challenging, requiring a good golfer to utilized his skills and clubs to the fullest. The fairways are consecutive as apposed to the parallel plans of typical courses. Because of this, you will hardly see other golfers, and it can appear as if you have the entire grounds to yourself. There is a superior sand based drainage system, so there is less of a chance that the course will be flooded in.
