In Puerto Rico there is plenty of opportunity
for sports and out door activities practically year-round. Off the eastern and
southeast coast, water sports like boating, sailing, ocean swimming and
island-hopping is a common pass-time. Along in calm southern waters
kayaking is alive and lots of fun. A continental shelf also provides a chance
for snorkeling and scuba-diving. Surfing is popular especially along the north
and northwest costal region. Casual swimming and other impulsive beach
activities like volleyball, jet skiing, windsurfing, water skiing, and
parasailing are also enjoyed throughout the island. If you are into fishing then
deep-sea fishing is another pass time you may wish to consider.
If you prefer extreme land sports, try hang-gliding, or
rock climbing and rappelling from our steepest cliffs. For a test of your
endurance try some hiking, or cycling through the many tropical scenic routes.
We have some of the most challenging trails in the Caribbean.
If you prefer a more traditional outdoor activity visitors
can horseback ride across some of the most delightful terrain. Finally but not
least, you can participate in a game of tennis, or tee off to championship level
golf practically any time. We have some of the best courts and ranges in the
Caribbean. Running is also a passion in Puerto Rico. Marathons are held across
the island every year.
